Christchurch horror

Innocent people at prayer in a calm, peaceful country…… and suddenly 50 of them massacred by a maniacal terrorist(s)! The Christchurch mosque attacks were truly horrifying and unnerving too. Unnerving, not only because it happened in a peaceful oasis in one remote corner of the world called New Zealand but more importantly that it was aimed at people from one particular faith. The agenda circulated earlier by the arrested terrorist speaks about taking it out not only against Muslims but all immigrants to white-ruled countries.

If we take a step back, we see most terrorist attacks in the 1990s/2000s before Christchurch have been orchestrated by ISIS, JeM, HuM, Boko Haram, Taliban and Al Qaeda. These happened to be led and had as members, muslims …. misled/ brainwashed ones who form a negligible fraction of the global population of peace-loving practitioners of Islam. What the Christchurch attack has revealed is the underlying hatred getting built up against Muslims as a whole, which is rightly being condemned and the actions taken by the NZ government are in this direction. This misguided and wrongful branding of any religion has to be nipped in the bud. Hapless victims know no religion, except when they become dead bodies, their last rites tend to be different.

The other section of people against whom these attacks were directed are ‘ immigrants’. Not all immigrants are Muslims. Essentially immigrants can be of any faith and they move towards ostensibly more prosperous countries, either following a war or even otherwise. One can cite the example of Sri Lankan Tamil immigrants, mostly Hindus residing in various countries.

The third aspect cited in the arrested terrorist’s agenda is about ‘ white race’ superiority.

Remember, this person was not acting alone. May or may not be organised groups but online “Hate groups” could be behind him ….. and how many silent sympathisers who believe in his misguided cause, we will never know.

Unless all countries unitedly battle terrorism, irrespective of religious faith, race and colour and come out with clear positions as regards immigrants, there is this lurking fear that the whole world may be divided on grounds of race, religion, colour ……. and the consequences can be catastrophic to the Human race
