Happy New Year 2019

We have entered 2019!

Big thanks to all my readers who have put up with my ” some sense and loads of nonsense”. While wishing all readers that 2019 brings them all that is best in this world, I add a cautionary note that I will continue harassing them with my posts this year too. No escape ……. and am getting on with the job right away on Day 1.

New Year means celebrations, greetings,messages, hopes, prayers and of course recaps of the year gone by and countdowns or popularity lists of almost everything from films, songs, leaders, sports-persons, defining moments……… the list is endless. Looking at numerous wishes and messages sent by friends and relatives in person, on the phone or on social media, a thought struck me — Why not a countdown list of messages on the basis of content, idea, visual impact and the overall motivational impact it had on me? Needless to state, real love and concern was apparent in all the greetings and messages as they wished/prayed for Health, Happiness, Prosperity,etc. and it was a tough task picking up the Top 6. So here goes….

This was at Number 6. Maybe a little cluttered but the idea was great. The world is never going to be a perfect place. Stop cribbing and move ahead, enjoying the small joys of life, even as we believe in ourselves that we would succeed in life. A spelling mistake did put me off, but considering the larger message, had to let it pass.

At Number 5. was this naughty message. Not a motivational one for sure, but just loved the creator’s innovative thinking of 2018 making way for 2019.

Cricket is the flavor of the season or rather it is always the flavor for us Indians. So a message with cricket as the background steps in at Number 4. You need not be a star or an eminent personality in the playing field of life. Keep playing the game of life and never stop.

Number 3 is occupied by a message to one’s own self. Respecting our own selves or being proud of ourselves is something we should cultivate. This should not be confused with Ego, which could lead to arrogance. Here, the creator respects herself and seeks to improve further in 2019 — a truly positive message which talks about being a better person in the coming year.

There were numerous messages wishing ‘Prosperity’ for the receiver. None could have captured this better than this one at Number 2, which depicts or prays for rising stock-markets in 2019. Coming from a wealth management firm and created by professionals, I wondered for a moment if this should get high ranking, but then decided that the idea was too good to be ignored.

Finally the Numero Uno. One of the earliest messages I got in the morning even as I was stumbling out of my bed. ‘Carpe diem’– ‘Seize the day’ says the message. The first day of the year would set the tone for the entire year. The little girl in the picture complements the wording perfectly– she has seized her packet of goodies and is raring to go. Nothing happens on its own, we have to seize the opportunities.

Let’s decide what we want to achieve in 2019 and seize every opportunity which comes our way and helps us achieve what we set out to. Cheers!
